Knitted version of the gathered hat (http://innocent-bigknit.blogspot.ie/2013/08/hat-12.html).

Using DK yarn and 4mm needles, CO 29 stitches (I prefer long tail cast on)

Knit for 4 rows

Alternate knit/purl rows until hat is desired height

[K1,YO] for one row, ending with K1

Sew seam

Crochet or knit icord, or make a braid and thread through YO holes, tie to gather.
